Underground Passages: Stories of Love and Other Confusions
February 3-12, 2006
A story about love that takes place somewhere underground in a mythical subway station, Underground Passages explores the relationship between two characters: Dr. Amor, a psychiatrist, and the Flower Lady, a flower vendor. While the action never leaves the station, it's still a journey of discovery for these two individuals and the audience as they pursue the true meaning of their relationship.
Like any urban subway station, the stage is also inhabited by other vendors, street musicians, commuters, and local "characters." The ensemble cast assumes a variety of roles in scenes that weave in and out of the main storyline, and portrays the many facets of love, both humorous and poignant - unconditional, parental, eternal, and lost love. David Martino wrote the script, Gerard Estella wrote the music, and they both collaborated on the lyrics.
