five winters at the big house

Yeah, it might have been easier to call it something like "The Best of Salon" or "Salon's Greatest Hits." But the truth is, we didn't want to fall into that trap. We hope to be doing Salon for awhile, and so it seemed premature to talk about "the best" or "the greatest." five winters at the big house is, instead, a compilation of some of our favorite musical moments since we began A Modern Salon at Brucemore in 2004, and includes a few tunes we'll feature in January. Among the fourteen selections are Stormy Weather, 100 Years, Time after Time, and Turn, Turn, Turn. Gerard Estella recorded and mixed the CD, and local graphic artist, Cathy Petersen, created the artwork and design. Funding for the project was provided by the Iowa Arts Council. five winters at the big house will initially only be sold at performances of A Modern Salon, and will go on sale to the general public on January 21.
